The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 14, the Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong, Chen Guoji, said in his speech during an exchange and cooperation matchmaking meeting to help high-quality agricultural products from the mainland go overseas, that high-quality agricultural products and food need an efficient international trade platform, professional marketing services, and a seamless connection with international standards. And these are the strengths of Hong Kong. As long as you make good use of Hong Kong as a platform to go global, you can do more with less.

Chen Guoji pointed out that this year's matchmaking event has entered its fourth year, and both the scale of the event and the number of participating companies have reached record highs. The matchmaking event is a good opportunity for thematic exchanges and business contacts, so that mainland enterprises can learn more about Hong Kong's advantages as a food hub. It is also a key project of the 36th Hong Kong Trade Development Council Food Expo. The Food Expo itself is also the largest agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery and souvenir fair in the Asia-Pacific region. Many provincial, municipal and mainland enterprises participated.

He said that Hong Kong is a highly international city, has a free market and a good business environment supported by common law, and has a stable position as an international financial, shipping and trade center. Under “one country, two systems,” Hong Kong relies on the motherland and connects the world. It is not only a “super contact” between the country and the global market, but also a “super value-added person” that can create value for enterprises.

This year marks the beginning of the National Fifteenth Five-Year Plan. The State Council announced the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” to accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas in June of this year, placing the development of new agricultural productivity in a more prominent strategic position according to local conditions; this year's Central Committee Document No. 1 also clearly states that agricultural enterprises with international competitiveness should be cultivated and exports of agricultural products with advantages and characteristics should be supported.

The HKSAR Government is fully in line with the national “15th Five-Year Plan” and is preparing the first Hong Kong Five-Year Plan to better integrate and serve the overall development of the country. It will make full use of the advantages of Hong Kong's traditional industries and high level of professional services to become the best platform for mainland enterprises to “go global”. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has set up a special class for mainland enterprises to coordinate the provision of one-stop overseas support from different policy bureaus and agencies, explore the international market, and create business opportunities together.
