03:52 AM EDT, 08/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Stora Enso (STEAV.HE, STERV.HE) said Wednesday it is considering permanently closing its Veitsiluoto sawmill in Kemi, Finland. The plan is part of the Finnish forest industry company's strategy to improve efficiency, profitability and competitiveness. If pursued, the company will centralize pine timber sawing at its Oulu and Kalajoki sawmills in Northern Finland. The company will hold change negotiations with the 60 employees at Veitsiluoto as part of the plan. Cessation of production is expected to take effect in October. Final decisions will be made after the negotiations, which are expected to take three weeks.
