Eutelsat to Invest in EU's Flagship Satellite Constellation Infrastructure

11:29 AM EDT, 08/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eutelsat Communications (ETL.PA) will invest 2.23 billion euros in the shared infrastructure of the European Union's new flagship satellite constellation and another 1.16 billion euros in the commercial infrastructure. The French satellite operator said Friday the investment in the Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite, or IRIS², program will be phased over the 2027 to 2034 period. Additionally, Eutelsat will invest 1 billion euros to extend the OneWeb constellation through 2034, adding 229 satellites to the 440 already procured GEN1 satellites.
