12:11 AM EDT, 08/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- RWE's (RWE.F) RWE U.S. Offshore entered a $1.22 billion settlement agreement with the US Department of Interior concerning wind leases offshore the states of New York, California, and Louisiana. In exchange for the settlement funds, the German energy company's unit agreed to relinquish its offshore wind leases and legal claims for the projects, according to a Thursday release. The group said it will continue providing funds for other opportunities in the US, including the $900 million purchase of a 16% indirect stake in a liquefied natural gas project in Louisiana and a $300 million natural gas turbine reservation deal to develop 15 natural gas peaking projects across the US. Additionally, RWE plans to invest 17 billion euros in the US over the next six years to expand generation capacity in the country to 22 gigawatts by 2031, up from 13 gigawatts currently.
