Passenger Link Branch: Sales volume in the new energy market in June was about 998,000 vehicles, down 10.1% year on year, up 9.4% month on month

The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Passenger Transport Association will release the monthly NEV industry report for June 2026. In June, the passenger car market sold 1.687 million units, down 21.2% year on year and up 12.8% month on month; sales volume in the new energy market was about 998,000 units, down 10.1% year on year and up 9.4% month on month. Sales in the new energy market accounted for 59.2% of total passenger car sales, up 7.3 percentage points from the same period last year.

In June, sales of pure electric vehicles were about 687,000 units, up 1.7% year on year, up 10.1% month on month; plug-in hybrid sales volume was about 310,000 units, down 28.5% year on year, up 7.7% month on month. In 2026, the cumulative sales volume of new energy was 4.52 million units, a cumulative year-on-year decrease of 14.3%.

In June, the TOP10 cities accounted for 27.3% of sales, an increase of 2.2 percentage points over the previous month (25.1%); the TOP3 cities were: Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The top 3 cities with new energy penetration rates in June were Shenzhen (71.5%), Chongqing (67.6%), and Beijing (66.7%); the city with the lowest penetration rate was Guangzhou (52.3%).

In June, the top 3 sales segments of the pure electric market were B-SUV (19.6%), A0 class (14.4%), and B-class (12.3%). Compared with the previous month, the market share of D-SUVs and A-SUVs increased significantly (+1.7 percentage points, +0.9 percentage points), and the market share of the A0 class decreased relatively much (-1.5 percentage points).

Compared with the same period last year, the C-SUV market share expanded from 5.1% to 9.8%, and the B-SUV market share expanded from 15.5% to 19.6%; while the A00 class market share shrank from 12.0% to 3.9%.

In June, the share of individual users in the pure electric market was 84.8%; the year-on-year flat; unit users accounted for 8.7%, up 60.3% year-on-year. Cumulatively, the pure electric market is dominated by individual users, accounting for 85.0%; unit users account for 8.2%.
