CNOOC announced on August 6 that the “CNOOC Anlan”, the first 16-megawatt tension-legged deep-sea floating wind power platform independently designed and built by China, was successfully connected to the Lufeng Oilfield power grid and directly supplied green electricity. The platform was designed and built to withstand the extreme operating conditions of a magnitude 17 typhoon. Its operation marks China's deep-sea floating wind power equipment technology at the forefront of the world and exploring new routes for China's offshore wind power development. The “HNOOC Anlan” was installed in the Pearl River estuary basin at a depth of 136 meters and 136 kilometers offshore. The overall height is nearly 110 stories high, with a total weight of 7,800 tons. The sweeping area is equivalent to 7.5 standard soccer fields. The platform is connected to the Lufeng Oilfield power grid through submarine cables, and is expected to provide 54 million kilowatts of green electricity every year after commissioning.
