The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 6, the Hang Seng Index opened 0.96% lower to 25,667.14 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index fell 0.99% to 4,884.08 points; and the State-owned Enterprises Index fell 0.56% to 8,555.63 points. Pre-market transactions amounted to HK$3.104 billion.

The gold stock sector strengthened sharply. Chifeng Gold (06693) rose more than 9%, Lingbao Gold (03330) and Shandong Gold (01787) rose more than 7%, Zhaojin Mining (01818) rose nearly 7%, Laosou Gold (06181) rose more than 6%, Zijin Mining (02899) rose 5%, and China Gold International (02099) rose nearly 4%. Overnight, COMEX gold futures rose 3.74% to 4,308 US dollars/ounce, and spot gold rose 4.16%. Progress in negotiations between the US and Iran on the Hormuz Strait navigation combined with record gold purchases by central banks around the world in the second quarter, driving a sharp rise in gold prices.

The trend of AI concept stocks is divided, and MINIMAX-W (00100) is over 5% higher. In terms of new energy, the Ningde Era (03750) was over 4% higher.

The semiconductor sector weakened, with SMIC (00981) falling more than 2%, GigaYi Innovation (03986) falling by more than 5%, and most TechNet stocks falling.

Affected by the divergence of US stock trends overnight — the Dow continued to reach a record high of 0.49%, the NASDAQ index fell 0.83%, the Philadelphia semiconductor index rushed back and the NASDAQ China Golden Dragon Index fell 1.09% — the Hong Kong stock technology sector opened low today, while gold stocks bucked the trend, boosted by a sharp rise in gold prices.
