Virishibo-B (09887): The Phase II study of Vilisin™ for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma has successfully entered the expansion phase

Zhitong Finance App News, Weilizhibo-B (09887) announced that the PD-L1/4-1BB bispecific antibody opatisumimab (verisin™) first-line treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) phase II clinical study independently developed by the company completed the safety introduction period assessment after expert review and successfully entered the expansion phase. This study was led by Professor Zhou Jian, director of Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Preliminary data studies showed that opatisumimab combined with bevacizumab showed clear and positive efficacy signals in HCC patients, and overall safety and tolerability were good.

HCC is the 4th most common malignant tumor and the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in China. Each year, there are about 368,000 new cases and 317,000 deaths. The onset of HCC is hidden. At the time of initial diagnosis, less than 30% of patients are suitable for radical treatment. Systematic anti-tumor treatment plays an important role in the treatment of middle to advanced HCC. Currently, PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with bevacizumab have become one of the first-line standard treatments for advanced HCC at home and abroad, but the median overall survival time of patients is only 19 to 20 months, the median progression-free survival period is less than 7 months, and the objective remission rate does not exceed 30%. There is an urgent need for more effective treatment.

Opatisumimab has shown strong efficacy signals and breakthrough therapeutic potential in various tumors such as extrapulmonary neuroendocrine cancer (EP-NEC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), small cell lung cancer (SCLC), and biliary tract cancer (BTC). Relying on the conditional activation design of the X-bodyTM platform, its good safety was verified in nearly 800 patients. This time, it has been verified again in HCC, further consolidating the safety foundation of opatisumimab as a cornerstone of IO2.0 pan-tumor therapy.
