Less than a week ago, Trump officially authorized government departments to allow materials with potentially critical strategic value to remain in the country. According to a regulation published in the Federal Register, tungsten waste and what is commonly known as “black powder” — that is, scrap metal from lithium-ion battery recycling, will be required to be sold in the US. However, relevant businesses can still apply for an exemption. The ban will continue to be enforced for one year.
