Sony Semiconductor Solutions issued a statement at the end of last month saying that the Kumamoto Technology Center, which was discontinued due to the July 28 Kumamoto earthquake, has completed safety inspections and repair work and is scheduled to resume operations in stages starting August 4. It is expected that production capacity will fully resume before the earthquake in mid-August. According to reports earlier on the 4th, TSMC Kumamoto Plant 1 carried out inspections and adjustments after the earthquake and has now resumed normal operation. The report said that the safety of the factory building has been confirmed, but equipment adjustments were delayed due to the earthquake. Tokyo Electronics' two factories in Kumamoto Prefecture have previously resumed operations since August 3.
