03:03 AM EDT, 07/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission approved AstraZeneca (AZN.L, AZN.ST) and Daiichi Sankyo's Datroway as a first-line monotherapy for adults with unresectable or metastatic triple-negative breast cancer who are not candidates for PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor therapy, according to a Friday release. The approval is backed by positive results from the Tropion-Breast02 phase 3 trial, in which Datroway extended median overall survival by five months and reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 43% compared with chemotherapy. The drug's safety profile was consistent with previous breast cancer clinical trials. Datroway was approved in the US in May for the same indication. Regulatory reviews are also underway in China, Japan, Australia, Canada, Singapore and Switzerland.
