An Insider At Capral Lowered Their Holding Recently

Viewing insider transactions for Capral Limited's (ASX:CAA ) over the last year, we see that insiders were net sellers. This means that a larger number of shares were sold by insiders in relation to shares purchased.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Capral

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the MD, CEO & Non Independent Director, Anthony Dragicevich, for AU$593k worth of shares, at about AU$11.85 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at below the current price (AU$11.86). When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. We note that the biggest single sale was only 8.4% of Anthony Dragicevich's holding. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Anthony Dragicevich. Notably Anthony Dragicevich was also the biggest buyer, having purchased AU$10k worth of shares.

Anthony Dragicevich sold a total of 103.34k shares over the year at an average price of AU$11.19. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Does Capral Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. From our data, it seems that Capral insiders own 4.3% of the company, worth about AU$8.0m. We do generally prefer see higher levels of insider ownership.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Capral Insiders?

It doesn't really mean much that no insider has traded Capral shares in the last quarter. We don't take much encouragement from the transactions by Capral insiders. And we're not picking up on high enough insider ownership to give us any comfort. If you are like me, you may want to think about whether this company will grow or shrink.
