The operation of the software industry from January to June 2026

In the first half of 2026, China's software and information technology service industry (hereinafter referred to as the “software industry”) was running well. Software business revenue grew steadily, total profit growth slowed, and software business exports maintained positive growth.

I. Overall operation

In the first half of the year, China's software business revenue was 7718.2 billion yuan, an increase of 9.5% over the previous year. The total profit of the software industry was 899.9 billion yuan, up 1.0% year on year. The software business exported US$33.79 billion, up 11.4% year on year.

II. Operation by field

Revenue from software products is growing steadily. In the first half of the year, software product revenue was 1676.1 billion yuan, up 6.9% year on year, accounting for 21.7% of the industry's revenue. Among them, revenue from basic software products was 104.7 billion yuan, up 10.6% year on year; revenue from industrial software products was 154.7 billion yuan, up 8.2% year on year.

IT services revenue continued to grow in double digits. In the first half of the year, IT service revenue was 5290.7 billion yuan, an increase of 10.4% over the previous year, accounting for 68.5% of the industry's revenue. Among them, cloud computing and big data services achieved a total revenue of 887.7 billion yuan, up 12.1% year on year, accounting for 16.8% of IT service revenue; integrated circuit design revenue of 236.5 billion yuan, up 20.1% year on year; and e-commerce platform technology service revenue of 622.1 billion yuan, up 5.5% year on year.

Information security revenue and embedded systems software revenue are growing steadily. In the first half of the year, revenue from information security products and services was 142.5 billion yuan, an increase of 6.3% over the previous year. Embedded system software revenue was 608.8 billion yuan, up 10.6% year over year.

III. Operation by region

In the first half of the year, software business revenue in the eastern region, central region, western region and northeast region increased by 9.5%, 13.5%, 8.8%, and 5.6%, respectively. The eastern region accounts for 84.4% of the country's software business revenue. Software business revenue in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region increased 9.2% year on year, and software business revenue in the Yangtze River Delta region increased 10.8% year on year. The two regions accounted for 27.2% and 29.9% of the country's software business revenue respectively. Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong software business revenue ranked among the top 5 in the country, with year-on-year increases of 9.2%, 9.6%, 10.2%, 11.1%, and 6.7%, respectively.
