Woodside Energy Group, Australia's largest gas exporter, released news that the company's natural gas production fell sharply by more than a quarter in the three months up to June due to two factors: the cyclone disrupted operations and planned maintenance at the Pluto export plant. Woodside submitted regulatory documents on Tuesday to disclose that in the second quarter, natural gas production fell 27% year on year, and total oil and gas output fell 18%, which translates to 41.3 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company's actual average sales price rose 44% during the same period. Shipping in the Strait of Hormuz was blocked, and transportation restrictions on exporters of liquefied natural gas products such as Qatar were the main driving factors. CEO Liz Westcott said in the report: “Higher average sales prices support corporate profits and cash flow, and confirm that our diversified asset portfolio is resilient to risks in an environment where macroeconomic and commodity prices continue to fluctuate. The company's key growth projects are progressing steadily according to the budget and plans.”
