The Logistics and Support Department of the Central Military Commission, the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission, the Political and Legal Committee of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Administration issued a “Notice on Prohibiting Sales Activities of End-of-Life Equipment Involving Military Retired Military Service” on July 23. The notice states that it is strictly prohibited for any unit or individual to sell decommissioned military equipment; it is strictly prohibited to produce, modify, or use disassembled parts of decommissioned equipment, etc., to sell imitation products sufficient to be viewed by the public as military equipment; and it is strictly prohibited to carry out commercial marketing of decommissioned military equipment and imitation products sufficient to be viewed by the public as military equipment. Relevant functional departments should cooperate closely to strengthen the normalization of supervision and inspection of market sales and commercial marketing and publicity activities involving military decommissioned equipment. Whoever endangers public safety, military secret safety, etc., and violates relevant laws and regulations shall be seriously investigated and punished according to law and regulations; if it constitutes a crime, criminal liability shall be investigated according to law.
