Canal+ Pledges EUR980 Million for French, European Cinema

11:56 PM EDT, 07/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Canal+ (CAN.L, CNP.JO) committed to investing 980 million euros over five years to support French and European cinema, according to a Monday filing. The London- and Johannesburg-listed media and entertainment group made its pledge under a new agreement entered into with unions representing French film producers, distributors and directors. The deal will take effect in 2028 and also includes commitments to improve the visibility of movies and diversification in film productions. The agreement also covers the company's French television and streaming brand Ciné+ OCS, Canal+ added.
