On July 21, the Abu Dhabi National Petroleum Corporation officially issued a final investment decision for the US$6.2 billion Umm Sheikh gas roof development project. Together with international partners such as Total Energy, ENI Group, and China National Petroleum Group, they will jointly develop Abu Dhabi's Umm Sheikh gas oil and gas resources to accelerate the implementation of an integrated global gas development strategy. The UAE has the 7th largest natural gas reserves in the world. After completion, the project will be able to extract more than 600 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day, with production capacity close to 10% of the UAE's current daily gas consumption. The project is expected to be put into operation in 2030. The investment includes three general engineering contracts and simultaneous planning of 14 well drilling and development plans.
