According to a Reuters survey of economists, South Korea's economic growth rate in the second quarter was likely to be much slower than in the first quarter as strong export growth was offset by weak domestic demand. According to the median estimate of the 24 economists interviewed, South Korea's seasonally adjusted gross domestic product grew by 0.4% in the second quarter of 2026, lower than the 1.8% increase in the first quarter of this year. The latter was the fastest growth rate in nearly six years. The survey was conducted from July 7 to 20, and the forecast range was between 0.1% and 1.0%.
