UBS released a research report stating that the Bank of Communications's target price was raised from HK$8.6 to HK$8.7 to reflect better net interest income and profit forecasts, and maintain a “buy” rating. The report mentioned that the net interest spread for the first quarter of 2026 rose by 2 basis points to 1.23% quarterly, recovering for the second consecutive quarter. Benefiting from further repricing of deposits, the net interest spread is expected to remain stable on a quarterly basis this year. The net interest spread for the whole year is expected to widen by 3 basis points to 1.23% compared to last year. UBS raised its 2026-2027 earnings forecast per share by 3-6%, to RMB 1.05 and RMB 1.09, respectively. It is expected that net interest spreads will stabilize on a quarterly basis and that loan growth will be ideal, which will drive it to improve revenue and increase net profit after tax.
