09:46 AM EDT, 07/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission will approve the proposed $55 billion acquisition of Electronic Arts (EA.VI) by an investor consortium that includes Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, or PIF, Reuters reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The commission's approval will reportedly come following the end of its preliminary review under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation on July 30. The regulator is also expected to approve the transaction under merger rules after the end of a preliminary review on July 22. The consortium, which also includes Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, made its offer for EA in September 2025. The European Commission had no comment, while EA and PIF did not immediately respond to requests for comments from MT Newswires.
