Kennedy Lishimpi, the Ministry of Health's permanent secretary for technical affairs, said at a press conference held in the capital Lusaka on the same day that in the outbreak, which began in August 2025, a total of 1,627 confirmed cases have been reported nationwide, including 26 deaths. Lihimpi said that the joint efforts of the government, partners, health workers, and people actively implementing prevention and control measures are the key to successfully containing this outbreak. He called on the public not to let their guard down and continue to take hygiene measures to prevent the outbreak from happening again.
