The Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the National Development and Reform Commission recently jointly issued the “15th Five-Year Plan for Ecological Environment Monitoring”, which lays out a road map for China's ecological environment monitoring work over the next five years, and also establishes a solid monitoring foundation for the construction of a beautiful China. According to the “Plan”, important progress has been made in the construction of a modern ecological environment monitoring system by 2030. An integrated ecological environment monitoring network for the sky, earth and sea has basically been built. The national monitoring network has achieved systematic operation and digital intelligence upgrades, and the central monitoring network is collaboratively arranged and interconnected. Early warning and monitoring capabilities for risks such as new pollutants, heavy metals, and ecological problems have basically been established, and data quality continues to improve. By 2035, a modern monitoring system will basically be built, and the comprehensive strength of ecological environment monitoring will reach the international advanced level.
