Zhitong Finance App News, Shanghai Industrial Holdings (00363) issued an announcement regarding the G50 Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway (Shanghai Section) (“G50 Expressway (Shanghai Section)”) widening and renovation project (“Renovation and Expansion Project”). The board of directors of the company is pleased to announce that the construction phase of the renovation and expansion project has recently begun. The G50 Expressway (Shanghai section) is currently maintained and operated by Shanghai Shenyu Highway Construction and Development Co., Ltd., an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the company.

The G50 Expressway (Shanghai section) is the core east-west transportation hub connecting Shanghai to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. It runs through Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces and cities. It is a major component of the highway network in mainland China. It is also an important part of the Shanghai Expressway network, ensuring regional connectivity, convenient travel for people's livelihood, and the circulation of social materials. With the recent development of Shanghai, commuting and freight demand has surged, and road expansion and renovation is imperative.

The renovation and expansion project runs from the Jiamin Viaduct in the east to the Xicen branch road in the west. The total length of the route is about 32.6 kilometers. The total investment is expected to exceed RMB 5.3 billion. The project will maintain the current floor layout and upgrade the original four to six lanes in both directions to eight lanes in both directions through widening and transformation on both sides, greatly increasing road traffic capacity. The project will also include the construction of the Xichen West entrance and exit, as well as the optimization and renovation of interoperable interchanges and road entrances. The construction will be carried out using the “operation while construction” model to ensure uninterrupted traffic across regions.

The renovation and expansion project has been listed as a major municipal infrastructure project in Shanghai. The project will adopt green construction and low-carbon construction concepts to minimize the environmental impact of construction projects and reduce construction costs.

After completion, the renovation and expansion project is expected to significantly improve the regional traffic carrying capacity and traffic efficiency of the G50 Expressway (Shanghai section), continue to improve the Shanghai integrated transportation network system, and help the integrated high-quality collaborative development of the Yangtze River Delta.
