11:27 AM EDT, 07/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- German lawmakers on Friday approved a bill aimed at stabilizing statutory health insurance contribution rates, forcing pharmaceutical companies to reduce drug prices. Under the approved legislation, the static manufacturer's discount for drugmakers will be increased to 15.5%, according to a same-day release from Germany's health ministry. The previous proposal in the draft bill was a dynamic manufacturer's discount. Meanwhile, the additional discount for patented vaccines will be raised to 9%, with a price freeze on immunization vaccines from Jan. 1, 2027, until Dec. 31, 2030.
