China Automobile Association: Automobile production and sales completed 2.76 million units and 2.81 million units respectively in June, down 1.2% and 3.2% year-on-year, respectively

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in June 2026, automobile production and sales completed 2.76 million vehicles and 2.81 million vehicles respectively, up 5.5% and 6.9% from the previous month, and down 1.2% and 3.2%, respectively.

From January to June 2026, automobile production and sales completed 14.993 million units and 15.17 million units, respectively, down 4% and 4.1% from the previous year.

According to an analysis by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China's automobile industry was generally running smoothly in the first half of the year, and the cumulative decline in production and sales narrowed month by month. The market trend mainly showed three divisions: First, domestic demand was clearly under pressure, and sales volume declined by double digits; exports grew more than expected, forming stable support. Second, the passenger car market did not perform well, showing a slight decline; the commercial vehicle market continued to improve, and sales continued to grow. Third, the industry continues to convert old and new kinetic energy, the traditional fuel vehicle market is shrinking further, and new energy vehicles are growing steadily.

In June 2026, passenger car production and sales reached 2.373 million units and 2.402 million units, respectively, up 5.9% and 6.6% from the previous year, and down 2.8% and 5.3%, respectively.

From January to June 2026, passenger car production and sales reached 12.721 million units and 12.72 million units respectively, down 5.9% and 6%, respectively.

In June 2026, commercial vehicle production and sales completed 387,000 units and 409,000 units, respectively, up 3.3% and 8.5% month-on-month, and 9.5% and 10.7% year-on-year, respectively.

From January to June 2026, commercial vehicle production and sales reached 2.272 million units and 2.297 million units, respectively, up 8.2% and 8.3% year-on-year, respectively.

In June 2026, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.598 million units and 1.643 million units respectively, up 26% and 23.6%, respectively.
