In order to further meet the public's needs for civilized breastfeeding and infant care in public places, 16 departments including the Municipal Health Commission and the Municipal Development and Reform Commission recently issued the “Measures for the Construction and Management of Maternal and Child Facilities in Beijing”. The method is clear. Mother and child rooms should be built in public places where mothers and children often stay, and facilities such as a third bathroom or toilet should not be used to replace facilities such as mother and child rooms. Maternal and child facilities include dedicated spaces and special facilities for convenient breastfeeding, infant care and protection of the privacy of women and children in public places; infant care facilities in the third bathroom in public places; special rest and nursing spaces and special facilities set up by employers for pregnant and nursing female workers.
