On January 8, local time, the US House of Representatives passed three government funding bills, enabling Congress to take another step towards funding the federal government before the January 30 government shutdown period. The three funding laws passed on the same day are known as the “mini merger bill,” and will provide funding for the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Justice, as well as water projects, the Environmental Protection Agency, and federal research projects, covering the end of this fiscal year. The relevant bill is expected to be submitted to the Senate for consideration next week. Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the funding package will be reviewed as soon as next week.
