06:01 AM EST, 01/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BNP Paribas (BNP.PA) said Thursday it was cleared to appeal an October 2025 jury verdict that found the bank liable in a case involving human rights abuses in Sudan. The French bank reaffirmed its position that the ruling was "fundamentally flawed as a matter of fact and law" and said it expects the decision to be overturned on appeal. Bloomberg News reported Wednesday that the US District Court in the Southern District of New York (Manhattan) rejected the bank's request to declare the October 2025 verdict unreasonable but allowed an appeal.
