Yemen's Southern Transitional Council issued a statement on the 7th saying that its leader Zubadi is currently in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden. The statement expressed serious concern over the “loss of contact” of the organization's delegation to Saudi Arabia to participate in the talks. The statement said that Zubadi is still in Aden “directly supervising and directing the work of military, security and civilian agencies.” The statement said that the organization's delegation arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh on the evening of the 6th to participate in talks related to the southern issue of Yemen. However, since the delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia, it has not received any official information on its whereabouts or situation. “This situation raises serious questions and is in urgent need of clarification.” The organization called on the Saudi side to immediately stop air strikes, ensure the safety of its delegation, and allow it to get in touch as soon as possible. The statement said it was “shocked” by Saudi Arabia's air strike on parts of Zubaidi's hometown, Dahlia province, calling it a “regrettable escalation.” The Saudi Arabian-led multinational coalition said earlier on the 7th that Zubadi had fled to an unknown location and did not explain his whereabouts to other members of the Southern Transitional Council. Although the Southern Transitional Council joined the Saudi-led multinational coalition in 2022, attacked the Houthis, and joined the presidential leadership committee, the executive branch of the Yemeni government, it still insisted on achieving “sovereignty” in the south. This has led to repeated clashes with the Yemeni government. Recently, its armed forces launched military operations against Yemeni government forces in Hadramaut province, Mehra province, etc. Saudi Arabia, which supports the Yemeni government, and the United Arab Emirates, which supports the Southern Transitional Council, intervened separately and held their own opinions.
