German Flash Annual Inflation Eases to 1.8% in December 2025

08:09 AM EST, 01/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Germany's annual inflation rate declined to 1.8% in December 2025 from 2.3% in November, according to provisional data from the country's Federal Statistical Office published Tuesday. The latest reading is below the consensus estimate of 2%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat, against the previous 0.2% decrease and the market forecast from Investing.com of a 0.3% rise. The annual harmonized inflation rate was 2%, compared with the prior 2.6% and the expected 2.2%. Meanwhile, harmonized consumer prices edged down 0.2% month over month, against the prior 0.5% decline and the estimated 0.4% growth. In 2025, German annual inflation averaged 2.2%, while the average harmonized rate was at 2.3%.
