06:52 AM EST, 01/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Nestlé (NESN.SW) voluntarily recalled certain batches of its SMA infant formula and follow-on formula in Europe as a "precautionary step," citing the possible presence of cereulide toxin in the products, according to a Monday notice. In a separate statement to MT Newswires on Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Swiss food and beverage giant said it is in contact with authorities in the affected countries, noting that no illnesses linked to the products have been reported so far. "Following the detection of a quality issue with an ingredient provided by a leading supplier, Nestlé has undertaken testing of all arachidonic acid (ARA) oil and corresponding oil mixes used in the production of its potentially impacted infant nutrition products," a spokesperson added. "Nestlé assures parents and caregivers that it is implementing appropriate actions, including a product recall where necessary, to safeguard the health and wellbeing of families and their babies. At the same time, the company is working to minimize any potential supply disruption."
