Manulife appoints Renzo Christopher Viegas as chairman

PETALING JAYA: Manulife Holdings Bhd has announced the retirement of Datuk Dr. Zaha Rina Zahari as chairperson of the board, effective Jan 1, 2026.

The Board has appointed Renzo Christopher Viegas as the new chairman, effective immediately following the retirement.

In a statement, Manulife said Zaha Rina has served as chairperson since 2013, guiding the company through significant milestones.

“Under her leadership, Manulife strengthened its position as a trusted insurance and asset management provider in Malaysia.”

Renzo, meanwhile, has served as an independent non-executive director since 2020 and chaired the Group Audit Committee and the Group Nominating and Remuneration Committee.

“He brings four decades of leadership experience in banking, insurance, and capital markets, having held senior roles at CIMB Group, RHB Bank Group, and Citibank.

“Renzo’s extensive strategic oversight and board-level expertise span major financial institutions, private equity, and advisory firms across Asia, with a proven track record in driving transformation and strengthening corporate governance.”

Renzo holds a Bachelor of Commerce, is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
