The Zhitong Finance App learned that the optical communications sector declined against the market. As of press release, Huiju Technology (01729) fell 5.64% to HK$15.9; Cambridge Technology (06166) fell 5.56% to HK$86.65; and Changfei Optical Fiber Cable (06869) fell 3.39% to HK$49.32.

According to the news, the US optical communications concept stock Lumentum plummeted by more than 7% overnight, dragging down today's market sentiment in the sector. However, according to a recent research report by SDIC Securities, the optical module market may welcome AI demand expansion and high-end structure expansion in '26: a new round of AI computing power construction is driving a high increase in demand for high-speed optical modules. The capital expenditure of global cloud vendors is expected to continue the upward channel in '26, compounding the expansion of AI clusters, the expansion of next-generation computing power platforms, and the implementation of technologies such as 1.6T/CPO, to form the core driving force. The industry is evolving in a dual path: first, scale-out expands horizontally through leaf spine architectures, and demand for optical modules is amplified by a “multiplier effect”; second, scale-up accelerates penetration of high-end optical modules in applications such as GPU cabinet interconnection and memory pooling by breaking through copper cable bandwidth and distance limitations.
