06:23 AM EST, 01/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Ørsted (ORSTED.CO) and Equinor (EQNR.OL) took legal actions against the US government's move to suspend their offshore projects, dubbed Revolution Wind and Empire Wind, respectively, in the country, according to separate company releases. Both energy groups are looking for preliminary injunctions from the US District Court for the District of Columbia, which will allow construction to continue while the litigation proceeds. The companies noted that the US government's "unlawful" actions could cause "significant" harm to the projects' progress. Revolution Wind, a 50/50 joint venture between Danish wind power company Ørsted and Global Infrastructure Partners' Skyborn Renewables, is 87% complete. Meanwhile, Norway's Equinor has invested over $4 billion in the 60%-done Empire Wind.
