San Francisco-based Blox Ventures has acquired a full city block comprising approximately 200,000 square feet of restaurants, a Cinemark movie theater, neighborhood retail and office space in Downtown Redwood City for $46 million. According to published reports, the seller was DWS Asset Management, which had owned it since 2006.

The property includes 830–890 Jefferson Ave., 801–885 Middlefield Rd. and 2107–2125 Broadway. Blox Ventures said the acquisition continues its focus on investing in dynamic, well-located communities with strong long-term growth potential. The property is convenient to major employers, including Box, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and McKinsey.

“Successful downtowns are shaped over time,” said Jason Oberman, CEO of Blox Ventures. “This Peninsula village is a vibrant retail nexus in Redwood City and Blox Ventures’ vision is to preserve the district’s existing character while strengthening its role as a walkable destination of small storefronts, local food purveyors, and everyday services.”
