Zhitong Finance App learned that according to reports, the global online car-hailing and delivery platform Uber (UBER.US) is considering acquiring the parking application platform SpotHero. The platform allows users to find and reserve parking spaces in advance in major cities.

If this acquisition is reached, Uber will be able to expand its parking service business, complementing its existing online car-hailing business.

Chicago-based parking reservation platform SpotHero has raised a total of about US$118 million in previous rounds of venture financing, the most recent of which was 50 million US dollars in Series D financing led by Macquarie Capital in 2019.

Relying on business momentum, SpotHero reached a partnership with Uber in late November 2023 to help the latter launch the peer-to-peer car sharing service Uber Carshare in the North American market. However, the service ceased operation in September 2024.
