The commencement ceremony of the 230 kV Tawiyang-Mahasai transmission and transformation project in Laos, invested, constructed and operated by the Sino-Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation, and an event for the second anniversary of the operation of the Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation were held in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. According to information, the project was invested and built by the Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation. After the project is completed, the grid structure of the power grid from northern to central Laos will be strengthened. The Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation was jointly funded by China Southern Power Grid Corporation and the Lao National Electric Power Company. More than 100 people attended the event, including Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sharon Sai, Lao Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Zhan Taben, and Business Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Laos, Li Xizhen. In his speech, Zhan Taben said that in the past two years of operation, the Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation has achieved remarkable results in promoting power cooperation between China and Laos. Li Xizhen said that after completion, the Taviyang-Mahasai power transmission and transformation project will significantly enhance the transmission capacity and operational resilience of Laos's backbone power grid, and help Laos turn clean energy endowments into development advantages that drive growth. As an important platform for energy cooperation between the two countries, the Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation has laid a solid foundation for the planning and construction of a unified power grid throughout Laos. According to the Lao National Transmission Grid Corporation, the company is making every effort to promote the construction of the Laos section of the China-Laos 500 kV network project. The progress is currently 86%. The company has trained 161 technical cadres from Laos through “mentor-apprenticeship twinning” between China and the Lao People, and has trained more than 2,000 Lao power talents.
