Mining Stocks Nudge FTSE 100 Higher

11:55 AM EST, 12/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- British equities ended the last full trading day of 2025 on a positive note, with the FTSE 100 closing 0.75% higher on Tuesday, led by mining stocks. Fresnillo (FRES.L) was the top gainer on the blue-chip index, rising 6.83%, with Antofagasta (ANTO.L), Glencore (GLEN.L), Anglo American (AAL.L) and Endeavour Mining (EDV.L) also gaining 3.27%, 2.52%, 2.38% and 2.20%, respectively. In corporate news, Hutchmed (China) (HCM.L) edged down 0.25% as its new drug application for savolitinib for the treatment of gastric cancer patients with MET amplification was accepted and given priority review by the China National Medical Products Administration. The biopharmaceutical company is developing savolitinib with AstraZeneca (AZN.L), which was up 0.01%. Ocado Group (OCDO.L) shares increased 0.25% after ending mutual exclusivity for its technology with its international partners, including Kroger in the US. The British grocery technology company said it can now market its technology to large grocery stores in multiple international markets. "As we continue to support all of our partners to improve and grow their online businesses, we will also now bring the full range of Ocado's AI-powered and robotic solutions back to multiple markets," said Ocado Group Chief Executive Officer Tim Steiner. UK markets will close early on Wednesday and remain shut on Thursday for the New Year holiday.
