Burhanuddin Duran, director of the press service of the Turkish presidential office, posted on social media late on the night of the 23rd that the Libyan military leader's plane reported a power failure before it crashed. Turkish officials said earlier that the “Falcon-50” business jet produced by Air France's Dassault crashed that night after taking off from the Turkish capital city of Ankara. The wreckage was found near a village in the Haimana district of Ankara Province, about 70 kilometers south of Ankara city. The Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Ali Ahmed Haddad, four of his entourage, and three crew members were all killed. Duran said that before the plane crashed, an electrical fault was reported to the Turkish Air Traffic Control Center and an emergency landing was requested. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said in a statement earlier that ground personnel have since failed to re-establish communication with the aircraft.
