German Finance Minister Krimbel said on Tuesday that he has received a relevant notice from the European Commission. The latter will support Germany's energy price support plan for the industrial sector next year. Krimbel pointed out that Germany maintains close communication with EU competition commissioner Theresa Ribera. This support plan will provide protection for manufacturers and their employees that participate in global competition but suffer from high electricity prices in the region. He revealed that industries currently receiving electricity price subsidies will continue to receive support, while the plan also plans to expand to industries such as organic chemistry, glass manufacturing, and battery production. For small and medium-sized enterprises that are not eligible for subsidies, the German federal government plans to introduce an industrial electricity price policy: for three years from 2026, the electricity price will be capped at around 50 euros per megawatt-hour.
