06:45 AM EST, 12/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission on Tuesday approved Japan-based Sojitz's proposed sole control acquisition of Spanish energy group Nexus Energía. The deal, which primarily relates to the supply of electricity and gas in Spain and Portugal, is not expected to raise competition concerns, given that the companies' operations are not active in the same or vertically related markets, the commission said. In 2021, Sojitz became Nexus Energia's largest shareholder by subscribing to a third-party allotment of the latter's shares.
