South Korea's Ministry of Finance issued a statement on Tuesday saying that after South Korea and the US reached a trade agreement, South Korea's direct investment in the US surged to 5.97 billion US dollars in the third quarter, an increase of 55% over the same period last year. Total foreign direct investment in South Korea increased to US$16.1 billion in the third quarter, an increase of more than 9% over the same period last year. By sector, investment in finance and insurance increased 27% year over year to US$7.97 billion.
