Horizon House is set to break ground on its new 33-story West Tower, adding 202 independent-living residences to its campus in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood.

Horizon House will turn the existing West Wing property over to Andersen Construction this month to start the demolition process before an official groundbreaking ceremony. The long-planned, fully funded West Tower project received its Master Use Permit this October, while Horizon House secured $600 million in tax-exempt revenue bonds in late November. Once completed, the West Tower will stand among the tallest purpose-built senior living high-rises in the United States.

Apartments in the new West Tower are currently 70 percent pre-sold. Horizon House’s project team is led by Andersen Construction, the general contractor, and Mithun as the West Tower’s architect and interior designer. Ziegler, the specialty senior housing investment bank, supported the bond financing.
