Today, the Supreme People's Court issued the Chinese-English “China Maritime Trials”, which comprehensively summarizes the situation in the past three years where the country's third-level maritime courts have given full play to their role in maritime adjudication, ensure the construction of a strong maritime nation and a high level of openness to the outside world, promote the modernization of maritime adjudication work, and create a preferred location for the resolution of international maritime disputes. From 2022 to 2024, the National Maritime Trial Third Level Court handled 98,726 maritime cases of various types and settled 97,140 cases. Among them, 71,705 maritime commercial cases were handled and 70,759 cases were settled; 5,477 maritime administrative cases were handled and 5482 cases were settled; 21,359 maritime enforcement cases were handled and 20,706 cases were settled; 185 maritime criminal cases were handled and 193 were closed. Among them, 6,823 foreign-related cases were handled and 6071 were completed; 1,226 cases involving Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan were handled, and 1,134 cases were completed. The cases involved 143 countries and regions. In three years, 11 maritime courts have seized a total of 2,592 ships, including 49 foreign ships and 6 Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwanese ships; and auctioned 1,376 ships, including 13 foreign ships and 2 Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwanese vessels.
