On December 17, the “China Sustainable Development Report 2025” released by the research group of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges showed that in 2025, China's comprehensive sustainable development index was 84.4, growing steadily for 9 consecutive years. This year's report has been optimized on the basis of the original evaluation framework system. The revised evaluation framework covers the four dimensions of economic development, social livelihood, ecological environment, and management and protection. Research results showed that overall sub-indicators across all dimensions showed a continuous upward trend. At the provincial level, for the first time this year, a sustainable evaluation was carried out based on the score situation, and the results were divided into five levels, from low to high, which were B, B+, H, A, and A+, respectively. According to evaluation estimates, Beijing and Shanghai received A+ ratings and maintained a leading position in comprehensive development. The six provinces with an A or higher rating in the country are mainly located in the eastern region, and only Qinghai Province is at the top in the western region. Judging from various indicators, the overall performance of the eastern region is superior to that of other regions, the western region has advantages in terms of ecological environment management and protection, and the central and northeastern regions as a whole have room for improvement.
