German Flash PMI Falls to Four-month Low in December Amid 'Sluggish' Demand Conditions

03:43 AM EST, 12/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Momentum continued to stall in Germany's private sector in December, as the intake of new business flatlined amid a "sluggish" underlying demand environment. The HCOB Flash Germany Composite PMI Output Index came in at 51.5, down from the previous and expected 52.4, flash data from S&P Global and Hamburg Commercial Bank showed Tuesday. The reading marks a four-month low. For the manufacturing sector, the PMI was at a 10-month low of 47.7, against the prior reading of 48.2 and market forecast of 48.5. On the services side, the PMI hit a three-month low of 52.6, compared with the previous 53.1 and forecast of 53.
