On December 16, the excavation of the Chongtai Yangtze River Tunnel “Pilot”, the world's largest diameter high-speed rail shield aircraft independently developed by China, broke through the 10,000 meter mark, leaving only 1,000 meters from the southern bank of the Yangtze River. It marks a critical step for the Chongtai Yangtze River Tunnel Project to open up the “last kilometer” and achieve the goal of crossing the river by high-speed rail at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. This is also the first time in the world that a 15-meter-diameter shield machine has been able to continuously drill 10,000 meters at a time.
