The Turkish Ministry of Defense issued a statement saying that the drone was “detected and tracked during routine procedures” and confirmed as “an uncontrolled drone.” The Turkish army then dispatched an F-16 fighter to “shoot it down in a safe area away from populated areas to avoid any adverse consequences.” In response to recent frequent attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on the 13th, “The Black Sea should not be viewed as a confrontation area. Doing so would be of no benefit to Russia or Ukraine. The Black Sea requires a safe navigation environment”.
