At the 2025 TSMC OIP Ecosystem Forum held today, TSMC Academician/Deputy General Manager of Design and Technology Platform Lu Lizhong said that AI power consumption is increasing exponentially, and energy efficiency is a key factor in whether AI can be popularized. “The development of TSMC's N14 technology went very smoothly, while continuing to enhance existing N3 and N5 technologies. From N7 to N14, the speed is 1.8 times faster and 4.2 times more energy efficient at the same power consumption. Every new technology node in TSMC reduces power consumption by about 30% compared to the previous node.”
