A number of US senators from the Democratic and Republican parties issued a warning to the White House on the 2nd: Unauthorized military action against Venezuela would be a “major and costly mistake” and would put American soldiers at unnecessary risk to their lives. Democrats Chuck Schumer, Tim Kane, Adam Schiff, and Republican Rand Paul made this statement in a joint statement. The statement also said, “If an attack occurs, we will propose a war powers resolution to force Congress to debate and vote to prevent the US from using force against or within Venezuela.”
